Installing Builds (Java Edition)

Updated 2 months ago 2 min read

This guide explains how to install a downloaded Minecraft Java Edition world from LanderBlock onto your computer. It works on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

After purchasing a build, download your ZIP file from My Account → Orders on the LanderBlock website.

Step 1: Locate Your Saves Folder

Open your Minecraft saves folder. The location depends on your operating system:

  • Windows: Press Win + R, type %appdata%.minecraftsaves and press Enter.
  • macOS: Open Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G, and paste ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves
  • Linux: Open your file manager and navigate to ~/.minecraft/saves

Step 2: Extract the ZIP File

Extract (unzip) the downloaded ZIP file directly into the saves folder. After extracting, you should see a new folder containing files such as level.dat, a region folder, and a data folder.

Step 3: Launch Minecraft

Open the Minecraft Java Edition launcher and click Singleplayer. Your new build will appear in the world list, ready to play.

Uploading to a Realm (Optional)

If you want to share the build with friends on a Java Realm:

  1. Launch Minecraft Java Edition.
  2. Click Minecraft Realms from the main menu.
  3. Select your Realm, then click Configure → World.
  4. Choose Upload World.
  5. Select the imported build from your saves list.
  6. Wait for the upload to complete. Your Realm will now run the new build.

Troubleshooting

World does not appear in the Singleplayer menu

Check that the world folder is placed directly inside the saves folder. Sometimes a ZIP extracts with a double-nested folder structure (e.g. saves/BuildName/BuildName/level.dat). If this happens, move the inner folder up one level so that level.dat sits directly inside saves/BuildName/.

World loads but looks wrong or is empty

Make sure you are running a Minecraft version that matches or is newer than the version listed on the product page. Older versions cannot read worlds created in newer versions of the game.
