Installing Builds on Android (Bedrock Edition)

Updated 3 months ago 2 min read

This guide explains how to install a downloaded Minecraft Bedrock Edition world on an Android phone or tablet.

Before you start, make sure you have Minecraft (Bedrock Edition) installed from the Google Play Store. After purchasing a build, download your ZIP file from My Account → Orders on the LanderBlock website.

Method 1: .mcworld Import (Recommended)

This is the easiest method and works reliably on all Android versions, including Android 11 and newer where file access restrictions can make manual copying difficult.

  1. Download the ZIP file to your device.
  2. Open your file manager and rename the file from .zip to .mcworld (for example, rename MyBuild.zip to MyBuild.mcworld).
  3. Tap the renamed .mcworld file. Android will ask which app to open it with — choose Minecraft.
  4. Minecraft will launch and automatically import the world. It will appear in your Play → Worlds list.

Method 2: Manual File Copy

If you prefer to copy the files manually, follow these steps. Note: On Android 11 and newer, access to the Android/data folder is restricted. You may need a file manager that supports scoped storage access (such as Total Commander or Solid Explorer) and grant it the necessary permissions.

  1. Download and extract (unzip) the ZIP file on your device.
  2. Open your file manager and navigate to: Android/data/com.mojang.minecraftpe/files/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds
  3. Copy the extracted world folder into the minecraftWorlds directory.
  4. Open Minecraft and go to Play → Worlds. Your new build will appear in the list.

Uploading to a Realm (Optional)

  1. Open Minecraft and go to Play → Worlds.
  2. Tap the edit (pencil) icon on your imported world.
  3. Select Replace World and choose your imported build.
  4. Confirm and wait for the upload to finish. Your Realm will now run the new build, accessible on all devices linked to your account.
