Every Minecraft build licence on LanderBlock comes with clear terms that protect both creators and buyers. Whether you are selling builds or purchasing them, understanding these licensing rules ensures everyone knows their rights. This guide explains the default licence, what buyers are allowed to do, what is prohibited, and how creators can customise their terms.
The Default Minecraft Build Licence
Every product listed on LanderBlock includes a “Personal use only” licence by default. This licence is automatically attached to every build on its product page — creators do not need to do anything to activate it. The personal use licence is designed to be simple and fair, giving buyers practical freedom while protecting the creator’s intellectual property.
What Buyers Can Do
Under the default personal use licence, buyers are permitted to:
- Use in single-player — load and enjoy the build in their own single-player Minecraft worlds.
- Use on their own server — place the build on a Minecraft server they own or operate for their community to enjoy.
- Use in content creation — feature the build in YouTube videos, Twitch streams, TikTok clips, or other content creation. Buyers are free to record and publish footage of the build in action.
- Modify for personal use — make changes to the build within their own world (adding rooms, changing blocks, etc.) for personal enjoyment.
What Buyers Cannot Do
The following actions are strictly prohibited under the default licence:
- Redistribute — sharing the build files with others, whether for free or for payment, is not allowed.
- Resell — buyers cannot sell the build or any modified version of it on any platform.
- Re-upload — uploading the build to other marketplaces, file-sharing sites, or download platforms is prohibited.
- Claim as their own work — buyers must not present the build as something they created.
Violations of these terms may result in action under LanderBlock’s Terms of Use and applicable copyright law.
How Licensing Protects Creators
The default licence exists to safeguard the time, effort, and creativity you invest in your builds. Without licensing:
- A single buyer could share your build with thousands of people, eliminating future sales.
- Others could re-upload your work on competing platforms and profit from it.
- There would be no legal basis to take action against misuse.
By attaching a clear licence to every sale, LanderBlock gives you a documented legal framework. If someone violates the terms, both you and the platform have grounds to enforce your rights.
Choosing a Licence When Uploading
When you upload a build using the Add New Build form, there is a dedicated Licence section with two radio options:
- LanderBlock Default Licence — the standard personal-use licence described above. This is selected by default and covers most situations.
- Custom Licence — upload your own licence file. The file must be in .txt or .pdf format with a maximum size of 1MB.
When you choose the custom licence option, your uploaded licence file is added as an additional downloadable file alongside the build ZIP. Buyers receive both the build and your licence terms when they download their purchase.
Custom Licence Options for Creators
A custom licence might be useful if you want to:
- Grant additional permissions (such as commercial server use).
- Add specific attribution requirements.
- Include terms tailored to a particular type of build or use case.
The LanderBlock default licence still applies as a baseline, and your custom terms can extend (but not contradict) those protections.
Reporting Licence Violations
If you discover that someone is redistributing, reselling, or re-uploading your build without permission, report it to LanderBlock support immediately via the contact page. The platform takes intellectual property seriously and will investigate all reports.

Licensing might not be the most exciting topic, but it is one of the most important. Clear licence terms mean buyers can enjoy your builds with confidence, and you can sell them knowing your work is protected.
